Ryo Chonan has been called upon to step in for the injured Mark Weir at Cage Rage 23 against Paul "Semtex" Daley. Weir was injured at a recent bodogFIGHT taping, where he lost via TKO in the 1st round to Nick "the GOAT" Thompson. Chonan is a PRIDE Bushido vet, and the current DEEP middleweight champion. He holds wins over highly touted fighters like Hayato "Mach" Sakurai, Joey Villasenor, and UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva. Chonan looks to come to Cage Rage and add some more hardware to his collection when he takes on Daley for the vacant welterweight title.
This fight will be a very tough one to pick a winner for. Chonan has the edge as far as facing tougher competition, and he definitely holds more impressive victories. Daley is so explosive though, and is very hard to count out. He can get a KO at any time, and if Chonan has shown a weakness it has been his chin. This will definitely be one of the must see fights of the night.
